Renting A House In Thailand Is One of A Good Choices For Long Stay

Anybody who is interested in really getting a feel for Thailand and getting to know the country has to rent a house and live in a Muban. A “Muban” is the Thai word used for housing estate, gated community or suburb. Almost all housing estates in Thailand are made of detached or semi-detached houses which are each built by the owner himself. Mubans are generally newer and are built just outside the built-up areas of the city. It is possible to rent a house in Pattaya but this usually means have to sacrifice things like a garden or a garage. Most foreigners prefer to rent houses in suburban mubans as the houses are generally more modern and spacious.

Rentinga house in Thailand is surprisingly cheap with prices for a two bedroom house starting as low as 8,000 THB (210 Euro) a month. A house in the price range of 8,000 to 10,000 THB will have two or three bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, and a covered area for parking vehicles. Most of the houses in this price range will be spread out on approximately 20 to 30 wah of land. “Wah” is a unit of land measurement used in Thailand. One wah is approximately 4 square meters. Therefore, a 30 wah house is approximately 120 square meters. Paying 200 Euro a month for a spacious 120 sq meter house is a real bargain especially when compared to the rent charged in many other countries.

Living on your own in a house also gives you the chance to cook for yourself and get familiar with life in Thailand. Cooking for yourself or your family will involve finding out where the nearest market is, learning to bargain with shopkeepers, and maybe also learning a little Thai along the way. Most of the markets which are used by local Thai people will sell products not suited to foreigners. But thankfully Pattaya has several large shopping malls and supermarkets which cater to international tourists. Many tourists take Thai cooking classes which enable them use the local products that are available in the day markets.

Houses come in many different areas and sizes which results in varying rent prices. The price ranges from 8,000 baht to some luxury homes which cost in excess of 150,000 (4,000 Euro) baht per month. Houses in the range of 100,000 baht will generally have at least 5 bedrooms, 3-4 bathrooms, a living area of 200 sq meter and be built on a land area of 200 wah.
